Per the bylaws, membership is open to both career and honorary consuls recognized by an Exequatur issued by the US Department of State and whose consular jurisdiction includes the State of Michigan.

Former and retired consuls are eligible for membership, without voting rights, as long as they continue to reside in Michigan.
